'Black and Yellow' rap star Wiz Khalifa bagged in the newcomers award for Best New Artist at the 2011 Black Entertainment Television Awards which was held on June 26. He won against some serious competition.
Wiz Khalifa managed to slip past other great new artists like J.Cole,Bruno Mars,Miguel and young artist Willow Smith. As he managed to win the award which was not expected by him, Wiz Khalifa told the audience "I'm not used to winning stuff, so I didn't come with no speech or nothing." He also thanked his record label for giving him such a good start and to help him achieve new heights in the industry.
Before the 23 year old Best New Artist could leave the stage, “All the young people who promote positivity and just having fun and enjoying yourself, man, this is for y’all.”
Wiz Khalifa appeared into the game back in 2006, but it wasn't until he had a super hit song :Black and Yellow" that brought him this far. The young rapper hit the No.1 Spot on Billboard 100 with his colorful record. This guy has to go a long way.
